Characters
In chapter 9 Simon represents the truth and he is the voice of reason. He is a Christ-like figure because he and Christ both die in a sacrifice like manner. Simon has a kind heart and sees the evil and the good between the boys. He is the one that realizes that the beast isn't real and is only the darkness inside the boys. When he dies, the innocence left in the boys is gone.
Events
In chapter 9 Simon sees what the boys thought was the beast but actually was a dead parachutist he runs and tries to tell them. Simon sees that the beast is nothing but the evil and darkness inside the boys. He tells the others what he saw but due to his exhaustion and fatigue, he runs in looking like a beast. When the boys were dancing and playing around, they get caught up. Then boys kill Simon in a brutal murder. The boy's ruthless attack on Simon is the main event in this chapter.
